Will Carrara Marble make the Grade?

This April saw a special meeting of the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly, in which members discussed the possibility of conferring Global Heritage Stone Resource status on Vitruvius’ favourite, Carrara Marble.

If granted, the status would bestow considerable prestige on the already highly sought after material and would help regulate its quarrying and production in years to come.

We at Vitruvius are delighted with the news as, after working with suppliers in Carrara for many years, we are already convinced of the stone’s superior status.

Other materials put forward for Global heritage Status include Welsh Slate and Portland Stone.
